The new Golf is set to hit the UAE market early next year. According to VW Middle East, the Mark VI Golf will be available in dealerships across the UAE from February 2009.
However, the much-anticipated GTI version will only be available around mid to late 2009. The new GTI follows VW's new design language first seen in the stunning Scirocco coupé.
The new GTI will pack a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine developing 210bhp and 280Nm at full tilt. The GTI also gets a new electronic limited-slip differential (XDS) to improve its dynamic abilities.
The GTI boasts a top speed of 240kph, while keeping the fuel consumption to a frugal 7.5-litres per 100km.
New prices will be announced shortly.
