As we approach the end of another academic year and the dawn of a new one you probably have many decisions to make. For some of you, this year may have marked the completion of one stage of your lives – be it high school or university, and you may use this summer as an opportunity to scan through your higher education and career options.
For others, this time may be used to pick up some skills in a long-sought passion. It could be dancing, a foreign language, or an instrument you've been yearning to learn to play. And the rest of you may use this summer to put yourself on a mental vacation - catch up on some sleep, go the beach and just take it easy.
But whatever you decide to do this summer, remember to use these three months wisely. Don't just zoom right through them, wasting your days away. Sure, take the time to relax and take a break from life's daily demands. But also do something productive so that you can come back from the summer saying you learned something new.
My past year has been a very fulfilling experience. I have come to know my colleagues, Maysam Ali, Amelia Naidoo and Rana Wehbe and Notes deputy editor Rania Al Hussaini. We have formed a strong bond and I'm glad to say that Notes has reflected this bond in both content and design.
When I stop to think about the new people who have entered my life in the past year since graduation and the difference they've made, it strikes me as remarkable. Many times in life you reach crossroads.
One decision can lead you down a certain path in life, in which you meet certain people whereas another decision could lead you down a completely different path and cause you to meet another group of people and perhaps never come across the ones you know now.
So as a goodbye for the summer, I'd like to advise you to always think twice prior to making any kind of decision — as it may be the determining factor for the path of your life.
