Al Ain: Al Ain Municipality yesterday contracted a private firm for the maintenance and development of the city's prime tourist area in the foothills of Jebel Hafeet.
The Dh50 million contract covers the maintenance and landscaping of Zakhir District, Ain Al Faydah, Mubazzarah and some of the surrounding areas.
The contract was signed yesterday by Engineer Ahmad Al Sharif, Undersecretary of the Al Ain Municipality and Agriculture Department, and Abdul Nasir, General Manager of Akar Landscaping and Agriculture.
Talking to Gulf News, Abdul Nasir said the project would start from March 7 and his company would take care of the area for four years.
Ansaloni Group, a leading Italian firm in landscaping and agriculture, would also help Akar in the project, he added. "This is our sixth such project," he said, adding that Akar would use a work force of 210 people in the area that would keep the area well maintained.
"This is the prime tourist area and our strategy would be making it more attractive for tourists," said Abdul Nasir.
Mubazzarah, a lush green valley in the foothills of Jebel Hafeet, has recently been appearing as a big recreational centre for people from across the country and neighbouring GCC countries.
The area has been undergoing rapid development. Mubazzarah has hot springs and number of attractions.
