Bhubaneshwar: A 5-year-old Indian boy will defy a government ban on his long-distance walking, but he will curtail the distance substantially because of hot weather, his coach said yesterday.
Budhia Singh will now walk 100 kilometres, but his supporters will cover the entire stretch of 500 kilometres planned for June 6, coach Biranchi Das told reporters in Bhubaneshwar, the capital of eastern Orissa state.
"I will walk to Kolkata and nobody can stop me," said Singh, who also took some questions from reporters. Daytime temperatures are hovering around 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in the region.
