Dubai/Sharjah: Motorists on Sunday said traffic in Sharjah and Dubai was "unbearable", due to road diversions and many schools reopening.
Khowla Mohammad, who travels from Sharjah to Dubai, said she left her house early in the morning and there was no congestion on Emirates Road. "However, Shaikh Zayed Road was totally packed on both sides."
Fatima Abdullah, who lives in Ajman, said it took her about three hours to reach her office in Dubai.
"Traffic was unbearable, especially because of the countless diversions on many roads in Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai. The signboards on the diversions are confusing," she said.
Saeed Saif said the traffic in Sharjah was bad in the afternoon. "The roads were clogged in Sharjah. A journey that takes me five minutes took me 40 minutes. Even in Dubai traffic jams during the afternoon delayed me."
Esmail Akhtar, a school bus driver, said he was stuck in traffic in Dubai for more than half an hour. A police official said there were traffic jams on various roads but the situation was under control.
