Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's prime minister will not resign, despite a poor performance in the country’s Saturday elections, his spokesman said on Sunday.

Spokesman Kamal Khalid said. "He still has plans to proceed to the palace tomorrow morning (Monday) to take the oath of office."

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi multi-racial National Front coalition won just a simple majority in parliament but lost one third of its federal seats and five states to the opposition.
