Melbourne: Force India’s Formula One debut lasted just 10 laps at the Australian GP.

Driver Adrian Sutil was penalized for changing cars and started in the pit lane, but had to retire on the 10th lap because of a hydraulic problem.

Meanwhile Giancarlo Fisichella, who took victory here in 2005, crashed out on turn 1, after colliding with another racer and launching his car into the air.

Meanwhile, MacLaren driver Lewis Hamilton cruised to victory after starting from pole position.

Only seven out of the 22 cars that started the race managed to take the chequered flag in the 58-lap race.

Force India, F1’s newest team owned by business tycoon Vijay Mallya bought the Spyker F1 team from Spyker Cars NV in 2007.
