Occupied Jerusalem: Israel says it is closely watching the outbreak of violence in Lebanon but will not get involved at this point.

Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai says that Israel must be "especially sensitive" after the Hezbollah militia took over neighborhoods of Beirut. Tensions between the countries have been high since 2006 when Israel fought a war against Hezbollah.

Vilnai told Army Radio on Sunday that Israel is prepared for the possibility that the situation in Lebanon will deteriorate. Vilnai says Hezbollah could take over as part of another civil war.

Vilnai says he doesn't believe the situation will collapse because all sides have a bitter experience from the 1975-1990 civil war.

Lebanon sits on Israel's northern border.
