London: Truckers converged on London on Tuesday to protest rapidly increasing fuel prices, which they say have almost doubled their fuel bills.

Delivery firms said the increase in fuel costs has put their businesses at risk and are seeking government subsidies.

Diesel fuel in Britain is more than twice the cost in the United States.

The protests are expected to wreck havoc on UK traffic, with road closures and traffic jams.

The carriers are demanding the government give them a fuel rebate as essential users to keep the country moving.
