Dubai: Air Arabiaon Sunday launched non-stop daily flights between Sharjah, the carrier's hub, and New Delhi, the capital of India.

"The launch of service today demonstrates our commitment to the Indian market," A.K. Nizar, head of commercial department, said in a statement yesterday.

"This is our 11th destination in India, making us the leading Middle East-based carrier to serve India and the wider South Asia region. Our comprehensive Indian destination network now includes the country's leading financial, tourist and government centres. Combined with our network stretching across the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia, we are the leading airline linking these vibrant regions' economies and peoples."

The flights depart from Sharjah at 9.55am and arrive at New Delhi at 2.30pm. Return flights leave New Delhi at 3.15pm and arrive at Sharjah at 5pm.

"Since introducing the low-cost carrier concept to the Middle East and North Africa in October 2003, we have firmly established a leadership role in these vibrant markets," Nizar added.

"By continuing to provide regional travellers with the broadest destination choices at the most competitive fares, Air Arabia demonstrates its commitment to making air travel accessible to everyone. The launch of service to New Delhi is in line with that vision."

In addition to New Delhi, Air Arabia also offers service to the Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Nagpur and Thiruvananthapuram.
