Dubai: F&E Aerospace, a division of Fairs and Exhibitions, organisers of top Middle East aviation events, recently unveiled a portfolio of five events that are expected to attract over 1,500 aviation companies and 60,000 trade professionals to Dubai over the next 18 months.

Speaking at a press conference recently, Alison Weller, Director of F&E Aerospace, talked about the first event in the series - the Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME), a dedicated business to business exhibition serving the aircraft interior sector, which ran from June 16-17 in Dubai.

"The aircraft interiors market is coming along in leaps and bounds. Strong growth in both commercial and business aviation is not only driving its development, but forcing it to diversify as customers' needs and expectations become more tailored," said Weller.

AIME will be followed by Middle East Business Aviation (MEBA) on November 16-18 at the Airport Expo; Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) on January 21-22, 2009 at the Airport Expo, Aerospace Defence and Training Show (ADTS) on March 2-3, 2009 at the Airport Expo and finally the Dubai Airshow, expected to be held at the Aviation City of the new Dubai World Central Airport in Jebel Ali from November 15-19 2009.

According to Weller, Dubai Airshow and MEBA are their stalwart events and are core drivers in both F&E Aerospace's and Dubai's stature as one of the world's leading destinations to conduct business for the industry at large; while MRO and ADTS are new events in the Middle East to be held for the first time in early 2009.

"The Middle East will sport the fastest maintenance, repair and overhaul [MRO] growth of 8.9 per cent per year compared to an overall industry average of 3.6 per cent. So now is the time to launch an event here in the Middle East as this industry is set for some interesting times," said Weller.

Virginia Kern, chairman, F&E, said, "As the regional industry continues to expand, so does the need to provide key business platform for the world's industry to gather, discuss and drive forward its evolution. This is what we are trying to pursue with our latest initiatives."
