Dubai: Air Blue, Pakistan's largest private airline, has planned massive expansion in the Gulf region with its biggest flight operation to Dubai, said a senior official.

"We are all set to add 14 more flights to Dubai from destinations in Pakistan," said Syed Nasir Ali, managing director of Air Blue, who has come to finalise talks on the airline's expansion with the local authorities.

"In addition to Dubai, we are also planning to start flights to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi soon," Ali told Gulf News.

Air Blue launched its operation from Dubai three years ago with a daily flight to Karachi. Currently, the airline operates 21 flights per week from Dubai to four major cities in Pakistan.

"We have received trem-endous response from Dubai and our policy of low fares and quality service also helped us get more passengers," Ali said, adding that the airline would operate 35 flights per week from Dubai after a couple of months

He said the Air Blue is the first Pakistani airline, which offers complete e-ticketing and online seat reservation facility to its passengers.

About the expansion plans in the Gulf region, Ali said that the airline would soon start operation to Kuwait, Muscat and Jeddah. "We have also got rights to fly to Delhi in India and we are very excited about it," he said.

"Formal announcements about flights and schedule to new destinations will be made on August 14 - the Independence Day of Pakistan," he said.

Regarding the fleet expansion plans, Ali said that the airline had already placed a $800 million order to Airbus for purchase of 14 aircraft. The delivery of the new equipment will start in July 2009.
