Dubai: Under its new strategy, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to becoming the best chamber in the world.

The latest vision was highlighted by its Director General, Hamad Bu Amim, who said that the new vision, though challenging, was achievable nevertheless and the strategic objective being the promotion of Dubai as an international business hub, the focus now is on global and not local competition.

Bu Amim was addressing the Chamber's management and staff to explain the philosophy of the new strategy launched late last year.

"The new strategy of the Dubai Chamber that intends to augment its competitive advantage for a greater contribution to the national economy under the ambitious vision of the emirate's leadership through the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, is now in our hands - to know it better and to put into practice to make Dubai the region's leading business hub in the 21st century," he said.

"To start with," Bu Amim explained, "the new strategy copes with the economic changes that Dubai is experiencing and we have to first understand its intricacies by adapting the required tools to face the new challenges of the future with hard work and better performance."

The Chamber will focus more closely on adopting new initiatives such as e-business and corporate social responsibility which are being strongly promoted by the Chamber's new Centre for Responsible Business, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre and the Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award.
