Abu Dhabi: The GCC Customs Settlement Committee convened on Sunday in Riyadh to finalise and approve the member countries' customs dues for 2006 and the first nine months of 2007.

The total value of GCC imports through UAE ports increased to Dh32 billion, generating Dh1.6 billion worth of customs revenues collected by the UAE in favour of destination countries.

"Saudi Arabia is the biggest single importer for goods through the UAE, accounting for Dh11.5 billion worth of imports followed by Oman with Dh9 billion," Saeed Bin Khalifa Al Merri, deputy director of the Federal Customs Authority said.
