Dubai: Prices of basic commodities in Dubai have continued to show signs of stability, according to the latest price index released by the UAE Ministry of Economy yesterday.

Following official measures to relieve inflationary pressures, prices of daily consumer essentials such as rice, bread and certain vegetables in Dubai's hypermarkets have remained steady for three weeks. Prices of some items have even fallen slightly.
Pakistan's Basmati rice (No 1) continues to sell at Dh37.50 per 10 kg at Carrefour Dubai.
In LuLu Centre, a two-kg pack of UAE's white flour No 1 or 2 costs Dh3.50, unchanged in the past three weeks.
The price of dry red onions from India has dropped from Dh1.60 to Dh1.55 per kg, while the price of locally produced short cucumber has declined from Dh2.85 to Dh1.55 per kg at Carrefour Dubai. A pack of six slices of white bread (large size) has eased from Dh2.50 to Dh1.40 at LuLu Centre and from Dh1.95 to Dh1.30 at Carrefour.
LuLu Centre remains the clear winner among stores in Dubai with the cheapest offers. It is selling 14 items at the best prices in Dubai, followed by Carrefour with eight and Union Cooperative Society with three.
