Dubai: The latest consumer price index of the Ministry of Economy (MoE) showed a rise in fruit and vegetable prices over the previous week while essential items remained stable.

The ministry data revealed a rise in price of Jordanian tomato from Dh3.25 a kilogram to Dh3.90 at Union Cooperative Society. Indian red onions went up 10fils per kilogram from Dh0.80 to Dh0.90 at LuLu Centre. UAE's short cucumber saw a 30fils rise per kilogram from Dh2.95 to Dh3.25 at Dubai Carrefour and Dh1.05 increase per kilogram from Dh2.85 to Dh3.90 at Union Cooperative Society.
Potatoes
Saudi Arabia's potatoes cost 15fils more per kilogram, from Dh1.75 to Dh1.90, at LuLu Centre and 80fils more per kilogram from Dh1.95 to Dh2.75 at Carrefour.
However, the price of the UAE's big size,white bread remained at Dh1.40 at LuLu Centre, and Dh2.25 at Union Cooperative Society.
The UAE's white sugar remained at Dh2.90 per 2 kilograms at LuLu Centre, Dh4.35 at Carrefour and Dh3.50 at Union Cooperative Society.
Pakistani basmati rice remained at Dh37.50 at Carrefour Dubai.
The figures for basic commodities at other stores covered by the survey were not available. The ministry collated the prices last Monday and covered around 46 commodities.
