Dubai: Commodity prices remain largely the same, with only nominal variations compared to last week, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Economy.

While week-on-week increases in the price of fresh produce, groceries and household items have become the norm, the data yielded little change which may come as a relief to consumers.
Slight decreases were recorded in the fruit and vegetable category with a drop in the prices of onions, cucumber, parsley, coriander and cauliflower, mainly at LuLu centres in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Lurpak butter and medium-sized eggs sold for less at Carrefour stores in Abu Dhabi, while the price of mutton imported from Australia dropped at LuLu Centres in Dubai.
The cost of mutton imported from Australia increased at the Union Cooperative from June 30 from Dh25 to Dh27.90 but decreased at the same store in Abu Dhabi with the price falling from Dh27.90 on June 30 to Dh25 last week.
According to the latest data, the price decreased in Dubai stores in particular, selling at Dh24.90, Dh23.90 and Dh19.95 at the Union Cooperative, Carrefour and LuLu Centres respectively.
However, there was a substantial increase in the price of frozen foods such as beef burgers from Saudi Arabia since June 30, a steep increase from Dh17.95 to Dh27.45 was recorded at Carrefour stores in Abu Dhabi while similar leaps in the cost of the commodity was recorded at Union Cooperative and Carrefour in Dubai. Prices remained unchanged only at the LuLu centre in Dubai.
The cost of a kilogram of Akkawi cheese decreased from Dh25.95 on June 30 to Dh19.90 this week at Carrefour in Abu Dhabi but increased slightly at LuLu centres in Dubai, from Dh21.50 on June 30 to Dh21.90 this week.
