Dubai: Drake and Scull International LLC (DSI), a leading end-to-end service provider of electrical and mechanical engineering, on Sunday said, it has been awarded the contract for the full Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing contract (MEP) for the 47-storey Tiara United Towers on Shaikh Zayed Road.

The twin tower project has a contract value Dh181 million with an expected completion date of December 2009. DSI was appointed by Zabeel Investments and United Holdings, who formed a joint venture to build the Dh1.75 billion towers in December 2006.

Khaldoun Tabari, chief executive of Drake and Scull International commented, "We have a strong working relationship with Zabeel Investments. We have been selected due to our successful track record and our proven ability throughout that time to deliver the best quality work within a challenging schedule."

For Tiara United Towers, DSI will supply, install, test and commission the complete MEP works including air conditioning systems, ventilation, plumbing and drainage and electrical systems. DSI's work will help bring to life the unique design for the iconic towers which includes a coloration technique with the building appearing in multiple colours.

The Tiara United Towers is one of the first buildings in Dubai to have a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating.
