Riyadh: Emaar, The Economic City (Emaar.E.C), the Tadawul-listed company developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), has awarded a contract worth 83 million Saudi riyals to Saudi Arabia-based Huta Group to undertake the construction of two bridges across the water canals at Bay La Sun Village within KAEC.

Fahd Al Rasheed, board member and chief executive officer, Emaar.E.C, and Saleh Bin Laden, chairman, Huta Group, signed the contract for the construction of the high-standing bridges enabling the smooth passage of boats and yachts through the water canals.

Emaar.E.C had earlier awarded a contract worth 250 million riyals to the Huta Group to develop man-made water canals with supporting walls over an area of 1.9 million cubic metres.

The project is set for completion this year.

Al Rasheed said: "KAEC include several aesthetic components such as water canals that add to the appeal of the residential communities and resort district. It is important to work with established and experienced companies in developing KAEC, one of the largest private sector led developments in the region.

"Huta Group has established credentials in the construction sector, and has already proven its capabilities in meeting the requirements of KAEC."
