Sharjah: Emirates Industrial Cities Co. has sent a contract worth over Dh41 million to Sharjah General Contracting for the enhancement and expansion of the roads surrounding the Emirates Industrial City project. Upon completion of the contract, Emirates Industrial Cities Company will have achieved the highest ever rate of traffic flow inside and outside of the industrial city and on the strategic roads nearby. The Emirates Industrial City can be accessed through intersection No. 7 in Al Thaid Rd. or via Al Khawaneej Rd.
The project lies alongside the Dubai ring road, only seven minutes' drive from Sharjah International Airport. The developing company has provided a complete network of paved roads, ranging from 25-70 metres wide, which support traffic flow between the various parts of the city, in addition to the network of 100 metre-wide roads surrounding the city, which were designed specifically for use by heavy duty vehicles.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Fahid, chairman of Al Hanoo Holdings and Emirates Industrial Cities, said: "Due to the vital importance of the Emirates Industrial City and in order to ensure the unimpeded flow of products, goods and various logistical services, the connection procedure has been confirmed in the master plan. This will allow for the absorption and resolution of potential traffic jams by providing alternate entrances and exits and expanding the drainage system of main roads."
