Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Standardisation and Metrology Authority (Esma) on Saturday approved 500 new UAE standard specifications, the authority said.
The standards were approved at Esma's first board of directors meeting chaired by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, in the capital on Saturday.
The meeting also discussed the proposed amendments to the UAE's quality certificates.
"The 500 approved standard specifications include new and updated articles, among which 492 are GCC unified specifications, while the remaining few are updated existing specifications," the statement said.
ISO meeting
The board also discussed other issues such as hosting the 31st first general meeting of the ISO in Dubai from October 12 to 17.
"We are working on a website for the event while an organising committee has already been formed to include representatives from the authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dubai police, the tourism authority, health department, naturalisation department and transport authority," said Walid Bin Falah Al Mansouri, Esma's general manager.
