NBAD's web unit gets ISO certificate

National Bank of Abu Dhabi's (NBAD) internet banking unit has been awarded ISO 9001:2000 quality management standards by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, one of the world's leading accreditation bodies, to be the first ISO certified internet banking unit in the UAE.

The certificate was presented by Saif Al Shehi, senior general manager, domestic banking division, NBAD to Manoj Bhatia, manager of NBAD's internet banking unit.

FEB holds first shareholder meeting

First Energy Bank (FEB) the world's first investment bank focused exclusively on the energy sector, recently held its first shareholder meeting.

Esam Janahi, FEB Chairman announced that the Central Bank of Bahrain has awarded it a wholesale Islamic banking licence. Janahi welcomed the shareholders and presented the constitutional committee's report of FEB's business activities.

Microsoft signs deal with Arab business angels

Damac opens office in Qatar

Ithmaar unveils new company

Bahrain-based Islamic bank Ithmaar Bank has said it had led a consortium to launch a new real estate and infrastructure firm, which it aims to float in an initial public offering by the end of 2008. Naseej will have a paid-up capital of 300 million dinars ($795.8 million), of which 120 million will be raised in an IPO open to Bahraini and foreign investors.

Dow launches new product

Dow in the Middle East recently launched Dowlex PE-RT, a class of polyethylene for pipe applications for elevated temperatures at the Middle East Plastic Pipes conference.

Detlef Schramm, application technology leader for pipe and geomembrane, Dow Europe, represented Dow at the event and showcased the company's diverse plastic pipes portfolio.
