Abu Dhabi: The Department of Planning and Economy in Abu Dhabi concluded an agreement with the Khalifa Fund to support and develop small and medium enterprises, aimed at facilitating the licensing procedure for projects supported by Khalifa Fund and their exemption from any fees due.

The agreement was signed at the Department of Planning and Economy (DPE) by Ahmad Bin Nasser Al Suweidi, Chairman of DPE, and Hussain J. Al Nowais, Chairman of the Khalifa Fund in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

Al Suweidi said the agreement ensures exemption of the projects supported by Khalifa Fund from the fees charged by the DPE for issuance and renewal of business licenses and other charges appertaining to the exercise of economic activities within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

He pointed out that the agreement involves the creation of a joint database of all the data and information related to various economic projects to ensure ease of data updating and enable the two parties to conduct a statistical survey of the business enterprises of relevance to the Khalifa Fund, noting that the two sides would have to work jointly to continuously upgrade the planned database.
