Dubai: Aswaaq, a Public Joint Stock Company under formation, on Saturday said it has opened its first community centre in the Nad Al Hamar area in Dubai.
"From the early morning, all the sections in the new centre started to receive visitors who came either to do their shopping or to take part in the activities being organised for the occasion," a company statement said.
Visitors to the Nad Al Hamar community centre will be able to get all their needs and requirements through Aswaaq's main supermarket that occupies a wide area offering all kinds of food stuffs, consumer goods, products, home and personal necessities that have been carefully chosen to meet their needs.
Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Aswaaq's CEO, said that the community centre is the first in a chain of other centres to be opened in the future to meet the needs of populated areas in Dubai.
Creating jobs
He noted that 60 per cent of the leased shops have been offered to members of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders and the area's residents.
Najla Al Khaja, Aswaaq's Leasing Manager, commended the interest shown by the youth to rent shops and establish their own businesses in Aswaaq's centres that cater for community needs.
She stressed that all tenants are committed to the leasing terms and conditions set by the centre's management even though some are new in the business field.
Aswaaq Nad Al Hamar is the smallest Aswaaq community centre. It was built on an approximate area of 40,000 square feet in the heart of the Nad Al Hamar area in Dubai.
This complies with Aswaaq's strategy that aims at creating community centres in the populated areas to meet the residents' needs and offer jobs as well as investment opportunities for UAE nationals.
