Dubai: The UAE printing, packaging and publishing market has an estimated value of Dh8-Dh10 billion, and the Middle East market was valued at $5.3 billion last year.

"The printing market has been experiencing an excellent growth as the economy is growing. Printing is part of the economy which is growing at 15-18 per cent and it will carry on for at least the next five years," said Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh, managing director of Modern Printing Press and Stationary.

The Middle East market is valued at $5.3 billion last year with average 7.7 per cent annual growth, according to research by Pira International, a global research outfit.

"The market is expected to rise to $7.6 billion by 2012. A 45 per cent growth will be witnessed in the next four years," said Sue Rothwell, group event director of Fairs and Exhibitions, the organisers of Gulf Pack and Gulf Print.

The show is set to take place in April 2009.
