Dubai: The 15th edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), the Middle East's premier travel and tourism event that will open its doors on May 6, is not just for travel trade professionals, but it is open to consumers as well.
Organisers have set aside the last leg of the three-day event as a "Consumer Day" which will run from 4 to 9pm to enable the public to meet directly with exhibitors and discover the wide array of destinations, hotels or the latest tourist attractions.
"Consumers can discover exotic faraway places, spa and well-being getaways, cruises, safaris, adventure travel and beautiful beaches," organisers said.
This year, organisers are aiming to feature many more new destinations and innovative tourism products and service providers.
This year's event is expected to smash last year's attendance of over 22,000 visitors from 108 countries. The previous edition also drew 97 "hosted buyers" from the premium leisure industry and nine new exhibiting countries. "In 2007, we attracted over 22,000 visitors from 108 countries and we expect this year's edition to top that. However, our main focus is on quality," said ATM marketing manager Lucie James.
"The ATM team is working with partners, such as Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing to attract more regional and international visitors," said Simon Press, ATM exhibition director.
