Riyadh: The UAE imported goods worth 1.47 billion riyals from Saudi Arabia in last December, the highest among countries trading with the Kingdom, according to a report by the Department of General Statistics and Information of the Ministry of Planning.
China was the second-biggest importer followed by the US, with Saudi Arabian exports to these countries valued at 534 million riyals and 515 million riyals respectively.
The value of goods imported by the Kingdom from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in December 2007, amounted to 1.17 billion riyals compared with 947 million riyals in December 2006, an increase of 24 per cent.
Saudi non-oil exports to the GCC states increased by 23 per cent in the same month to reach 2.05 billion riyals compared to 1.67 billion riyals in the same month of 2006.
The overall Saudi non-oil exports in December increased by 16 per cent to reach 9.24 billion riyals. In the same period last year, these exports amounted to 7.98 billion riyals.
The total value of Saudi imports in December 2007 amounted to 30.1 billion riyals compared with 24.3 billion riyals in December 2006, an increase of 24 per cent.
In tonnage, imports declined by one per cent to 3.87 million tonnes compared to 3.93 million tonnes in the December 2006, the report said.
