Abu Dhabi: Hafilat, the UAE producer of transportation buses and coaches,on Sunday announced a Dh30 million contract to export buses to Australia and New Zealand.
The company produces buses under licence from Australia's Volgren, manufacturing the body from aluminium on a Mercedes Benz chassis imported from Spain, in its plant and facilities that extend over 10,000 square metres at the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (Icad).
"Exporting our products is the first step towards placing Hafilat on the global map, as we intend to capitalise in the future on the competitive advantages offered by the expanding local aluminum and glass industries," Obaid Al Qubaisi, the company's managing dir-ector said.
According to the new contract, Hafilat will provide the first lot of the new generation of Mercedes Benz Euro Four with an electronic emission system according to international standards.
Utilising processed aluminium provides for better anti-rust bodies, conforming to the requirements of the weather in the Gulf, which resembles the conditions in Australia.
Hafilat Industries LLC is a joint venture between Specialised Investment Group, Emirates Link Group and Volgren, has the capacity to produce articulated buses, double deckers, natural gas operated buses, hybrid buses, and trolley buses.
