Manama: The Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works was honoured on Wednesday by the Arabian Gulf University for its incessant support for education at regional and international levels.

The colourful ceremony was attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince of Bahrain, and a number of Shaikhs and top officials.

The Foundation has instituted the Dh5 million Zayed chair for post-graduate ecological sciences. More than 19 students graduated through the programme.


Salim Al Dahiri, Director General of the Foundation who received the certificate of appreciation from the University President Dr Rafea Gobash, said the Foundation has offered over Dh228.5 million in support of education and higher education worldwide. The Arab World received Dh27.7 million, Africa Dh18.4 million and Asia Dh7.5 million.
