Al Ain: Hot and dusty weather would continue in the UAE until Friday afternoon, but weathermen ruled out chances of dust storm.
A significant fall in the temperature is expected from Saturday, with visibility going down to less than two kilometer due to dusty and partly cloudy conditions, said an official from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).
"We don't see chances of a storm, but moderate winds can kick up dust in some open areas,” said a duty forecaster at the NCMS.
The dusty condition in the UAE would be a result of local winds, he said. The Arabian Peninsula is currently under the spell of two atmospheric low pressures.
One is over Kuwait and the second is over the Rabb Al Khali (The Empty Quarters) - a desert near the UAE-Saudi Arabian border.
The wind speed is expected to increase from Thursday night to 18 knots over open areas. Also more clouds would appear in the night, he said. The visibility on Thursday was between four to six kilometers.
An important change is the fall in temperature. "The temperatures will come down to around 34 degree Celsius in many of the emirates on Saturday," said the forecaster.
Humidity levels have also gone up in coastal areas with a maximum reading of 85 per cent in Abu Dhabi, 65 per cent in Dubai, and 55 per cent in Sharjah.
The conditions were very hot, dusty and partly cloudy on Thursday in most parts of the emirates. It was the hottest day of the season in Al Ain with mercury shooting up to 43 degree Celsius.
Shabbir Ahmad, an Al Ain resident, said the wind, dust and heat made it difficult for people to walk in the open after midday. "Sky was partly cloudy, but it was very hot," he said.
Most of the city's busy streets had worn deserted look at around 12pm as the resident had taken refuge to air-conditioned offices, homes and shops.
Farooq Ahmad, another Al Ain resident, said his car was showing 45 degree Celsius temperature at 2pm. "I believe, it was the hottest day so far this year in the city," he said.
