Dubai: The blowing sands will dissipate slightly today but it will continue to be very hot and very dry, according to the Dubai met office.

The temperature will be between 45C and 46C and humidity at 55 per cent.

The comfort index had shot up to 8 yesterday which is "near stress". Tomorrow evening, however, it will be pleasant with temperatures at 39C.

The comfort index is graded from "comfortable" to "high stress". The higher the humidity the higher the stress level.

The strong winds coming in from the East had blown up sand and reduced visibility on some roads in Dubai but the dusty conditions did not disrupt any flights. Visibility at the airport was 2,000 metres, said Dr S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster.

No showers are expected but there is a possibility of rain over the mountains and thunder.

A marine warning has been extended for the next 24 hours as the winds are churning up waves of 4 feet offshore.
