Dubai: A panel of ten successful women from the UAE spoke on the achievements of women in various fields on Thursday to mark International Women's Day.

They were speaking at Al-Mizhar American Academy for Girls in Dubai.

The keynote speech was delivered by Raja Al-Gurg on behalf of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai on the status of women in the UAE and the achievement of female Emarati pioneers in the country.

Raja Al-Gurg, who is the president of Dubai and UAE Business Council for Women and Managing Director of Easa Saleh Al-Gurg Group said: “The law in UAE has given equal rights to women to grow and achieve their goals. We have four ministers who are women.”


International Women's Day goes back to 1908, when 15,000 women took the streets of New York City demanding shorter work hours, better pay, and voting rights.

“The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Shaping Progress’ and we want to encourage our students to follow their dreams with the help of these true success stories,” said Delice Scotto, Principal of the school.
