Dubai: It is not possible to determine the cause of the fire till experts give their report, said a Civil Defence spokesperson.
Around 183 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out in Naif market, Deira, early on Wednesday.
The accident scene has been handed over to experts from Dubai Police to determine the cause of the fire.
Fourteen shops escaped from the ravaging blaze. No civilian death has been reported.
Dubai Civil Defence’s Operations Room received a call at 1:52am on Wednesday about a fire in Naif area. Firefighting and rescue teams from Al Ras Civil Defence station arrived at the scene at 1:58am and found the fire had spread to a large number of shops.
Civil Defence teams from Al Hamriyya, Al Karama, Al Ghusais stations in addition to Armed Forces and Jebel Ali Firefighting teams were called in for support.
Dubai Municipality and Ajman Civil Defence provided water tankers for the operation.
Colonel Ahmad Al Sayegh, Acting Director of Dubai Civil Defence, supervised the operation, which lasted for two hours and 16 minutes.
