Abu Dhabi: Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister, on Tuesday approved the design of the national trauma rehabilitation centre after reviewing the project presented by a committee.
Shaikh Saif said the centre is part of a broader initiative by Abu Dhabi Police to build a series of humanitarian and services projects with the revenue generated from distinguished number plate auctions.
Chairman of the committee Nasser Khalifa Al Bedour briefed Shaikh Saif about the design, mechanism of implementation, administrative and technical infrastructure and strategic objectives.
The aim of the centre is to provide high-quality integrated medical and rehabilitation care for victims of road accidents and their relatives in the country, Shaikh Saif said.
According to him, the centre, which will be located in Abu Dhabi, will stand out from other similar facilities as it will embrace the vision of our wise leadership for building man and civilisation.
The 200-bed centre will house all medical specialisations for curing and rehabilitating injuries caused by traffic accidents. Care will also be offered to families of victims, thus creating a comfortable social ambience, he said.
Al Bedour said the centre would revolutionise primary health care concepts as it will introduce the most advanced alternative healing systems, like water and ozone-based treatment.
Apart from the medical wards, he said, the centre will have a religious guidance centre, gardens as well as sports and recreational clubs.
