Abu Dhabi: No flights were affected at the Abu Dhabi International Airport as bad weather and poor visibility continues.
"For 27 minutes early on Tuesday safety procedures were imposed at the airport. However, no flights were delayed or cancelled," a spokesperson at the airport told Gulf News. The safety procedures were imposed from 1.03am to 1.30am due to warnings of thunderstorm and lightning.
"The visibility dropped to 800 metres on Tuesday, which is well within the limit for the smooth functioning of the airport," the official clarified. However, as a rule the airport puts in place safety precautions whenever the visibility is poor, he said.
The airport is capable of operating so long as the visibility does not drop below 200 metres.
