Dubai: A minor fire at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, where Arabian Travel Market is taking place, forced the evacuation of one of the exhibition halls on Thursday afternoon.
No one was injured in the incident, which occurred at the Oqyana stand in Shaikh Rashid Hall around noon. An eyewitness saw a flame rise up for a few seconds from the storage room at the stand, which not damaged.
"There was a small electric fire, which was quickly brought under control," Abdul Rahman Obaid, senior vice president of protocol and security at the Dubai World Trade Centre, said in a statement.
He said the hall was evacuated "only in the interests of safety."
The incident delayed a seminar that was scheduled at 12:30 pm. The programmes resumed later, and everything was as usual.
