Dubai: Fire gutted the second floor of a mall in Al Nakheel area in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday afternoon.
No casualties were reported as the blaze broke out when the second floor was closed.
Firefighters had to break down the glass barrier to tackle the blaze.
Fire broke out on the second floor, which mainly housed clothe stores, of the mall when it was closed for the afternoon break.
Colonel Mohammad Al Za'abi, who heads the Financial and Administrative Affairs Section at the emirate’s Civil Defence Department, led a team of firefighters.
Initial reports said that the entire mall was on fire and the Civil Defence Department sent several fire-fighting vehicles to contain the fire.
Colonel Al Za'abi said upon the arrival of the firefighters and their vehicles to the site, it was clear that the fire was spreading only in the second floor.
