Sharjah: A massive fire erupted at a construction site near popular Al Qasba area on Friday.
Sounds of an explosion ripped through the area before the fire, which raged in a corner area of the construction site, witnesses said.
Several vehicles parked near the site caught fire and people were seen fleeing the area.
Marwan Al Sarkal, CEO of Al Qasba, said the cultural and heritage area was not affected by the fire and that there were no injuries.
"The fire was limited to that one building," he said.
'No injuries'
Sharjah operation room got a phone call at 6.15pm about a fire near Al Qasba, said a police officer.
Police at Buhaira station said they have not received any report of death or injury.
The cause of the fire was yet to be determined.
