The UAE Government's actions over the past few days make it stand out at a time when many others opted to shy away from addressing the international financial turmoil.
For being bold, transparent and in tune with the needs of the times and the people - it should be applauded for being a leadership of exception.
The current crisis demands a voice of reason and assurance - so that a relative state of calm is maintained among the people and in the business environment. The UAE is exceptional because of its decisiveness on consolidating itself from moving towards the brink of a chaotic meltdown, all while the global mega power blocs struggled to come together and take action.
The decisions adopted attest beyond doubt the country's lead when leadership is needed most, and to its attentiveness to what affects the millions living and working here. In fact, the proactive measures announced by the Government highlight its high level of engagement, taking into account that the mayhem affects all.
Perhaps the Government has had difficult deliberations behind closed doors. Perhaps it was reasonable to have taken time to reach a position. The reality is that the actions taken by the Government affect each and every single individual and business entity in the country.
