Ashgabat: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan held closed door talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov in Ashgabat yesterday.
They discussed ways to boost bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in economy and investment, as well as the latest regional developments.
The two leaders also held a round of open talks, which was attended by high-ranking officials from both countries.
Berdimuhammedov welcomed Shaikh Khalifa, and reiterated that the UAE is one of the most important partners of Turkmenistan in the fields of development and joint investment, adding his country is looking forward to broader avenues of cooperation with the UAE.
Shaikh Khalifa and the Turkmen President stressed their keenness on benefiting from all commercial and economic capabilities available in their countries. They also stressed the need to coordinate their countries' stances on regional, global, humanitarian and environmental issues.
They exchanged views on a number of developments in Central Asia and the Middle East, in addition to regional and global issues of mutual interest. Shaikh Khalifa stressed the importance of creating new opportunities of joint cooperation and investment between the two countries.
Berdimuhammedov decorated Shaikh Khalifa with the country's highest Order of First Class in appreciation of the UAE President and the consolidated relations between the two countries. Shaikh Khalifa thanked him for the order and the good reception accorded to him.
Earlier in Abu Dhabi, Shaikh Khalifa was seen off at the airport by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
UAE embassy: Khalifa opens building
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, accompanied by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov, yesterday inaugurated the new building of the UAE embassy in Ashgabat.
Shaikh Khalifa and his accompanying delegation along with the Turkmen President toured the building, where folklore bands presented heritage shows to welcome them.
