Dubai: Pre-registration facilities for National Registration Identity Cards will be provided at Emirates Post offices and partner outlets.
This has been made possible with the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) and the Emirates Marketing and Promotions (EMP) entering into a partnership.
EMP will provide EIDA with pre-registration form services and call centre facilities as well as support it with marketing and promotions.
About 310,000 Emiratis have been registered; the remaining expected to be registered by the end of 2008. It is anticipated that about 5 million people will be in the EMP database by 2010.
“As the exclusive agency for handling the Population Register and ID Card Pre-registration, EMP will scrutinize the forms and correct any errors," said Ahmad Tahlak, CEO of EMP.
“We will also arrange to send bulk forms to companies to be filled and submitted in one lot. We will then give a serial number and enter the data within two days," Tahlak added.
Tahlak also said that EMP will be contacting major corporations to set up a small office in their organization, to help facilitate the process. Soon, all UAE residents will be able to register at any post office.
"The ID card will be a token to access an individual's personal information and no one will be able to question its authenticity due to the secure process of enrolment," said Al Zarouni.
