Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Government Strategic plan for the next five years has been completed, it was announced on Thursday.
The plan includes a new approach to government, involving whole of government policy development, integrated strategic planning and performance management.
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, yesterday met with Chairmen of government departments, who reaffirmed their understanding and commitment to good government.
Secure society
The Abu Dhabi General Secretariat of the Executive Council (ADGSEC) had been working to identify comprehensive goals and priorities that will help Abu Dhabi to achieve its vision of a confident and secure society and a globally competitive open and flexible economy and sustainable development.
These goals and priorities are summarised in the Abu Dhabi strategic plan. Delivery is being monitored and agencies supported by a performance-monitoring system led by the General Secretariat.
Yesterday, 26 Abu Dhabi government agencies were tasked to initiate the necessary engagement activity to ensure staff, stakeholders, and the public are aligned behind their approved strategic plans.
Each agency will announce its goals and priorities this month, May and June, beginning with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority on April 20.
The aim of the strategic planning process is to create the necessary alignment with the government's vision, and between all government entities, to build high-performing government, which is responsive and which can contribute to making Abu Dhabi a better place to live, work and visit.
The process has involved two years of coordinated work by the 26 agencies.
"As a government, we are committed to a society and economy built on the very best of foundations," Mohammad Ahmad Al Bowardi, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, said.
Abdullah Al Ahabi, head of the Performance Management Division at the Council said: "Ultimately success will be driven by delivery - delivery by the people in government, their private sector partners and the people of Abu Dhabi."
