Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyanon Tuesday reviewed the blueprints and designs of projects to develop the Western region.
The President attended a presentation on the progress of various development projects in the Western region, in the presence of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
He called for the improvement of the quality of life of Emiratis living in the region through a comprehensive strategy that aims to develop the education sector, improve healthcare and provide a sophisticated infrastructure in line with the latest standards.
Shaikh Khalifa also reviewed the latest developments of several housing projects in Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi and Selea where a large number of housing units are being set up.
He was briefed on the development of Al Dhafra project, which involves the setting up of 788 homes in stages, the first of which will be completed in February 2009.
Some 786 homes will be constructed in Ghayathi, and 600 others in Selea. Shaikh Khalifa listened to a detailed presentation about the housing projects implemented in the Western region.
The presentation was given by Mohammad Hamad Azzan Al Mazroui, Director General of the Western Region Development Council.
The council was established in line with the directives of Shaikh Khalifa and the vision of Shaikh Mohammad as part of a strategy to develop the Western Region and provide UAE citizens with the best services and all means for a dignified life.
Also present with Shaikh Khalifa were Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Tourism Authority, and other shaikhs and senior officials.
