Dubai: Municipality has undertaken a Dh185 million project to provide comprehensive drainage and storm-water network for Al Warqa 3, a newly-developed residential area in the emirate, said Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality.

He said the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of next year, forms part of the civic body's plans to link new residential areas with the city's main drainage network.

"This project will provide drainage connections to some 2,185 houses in Al Warqa 3 area, which is located between Al Aweer Road in South, Al Warqa 1 and 2 in west, Mirdiff in north and Al Warqa 4 in east. The total area to be served by the project is 636 hectors. Besides, the storm-water network would have a total capacity of 188,000 cubic meters per day," said Lootah.

The project has been awarded to a private firm of high reputation.
