Sharm Al Shaikh: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday reiterated his country's support for UAE's right to its three islands - Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa - occupied by Iran.

The Egyptian head of state made this statement during a meeting with Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of UAE Federal National Council, who is currently visiting Cairo on the invitation of Dr Fathi Surour, Speaker of the Egyptian People's Assembly.

Al Ghurair conveyed to President Mubarak best wishes of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Al Ghurair said his talks with the Egyptian leader had covered a host of political, economic and parliamentary issues of mutual concern and reviewed latest regional and international developments with emphasis on Iraq and Palestine.

Issues of common interest at bilateral, Arab, regional and international levels were also discussed during the meeting, he said.

He said Mubarak renewed Cairo's support for the UAE's right to restore its three occupied islands and praised the UAE policy of wisdom and patience in handling the issue as Egypt did in bringing back Taba from Israeli occupation.

He thanked the Egyptian leader for floating a proposal during the recent Damascus summit, which calls for linking Arab dialogue with Iran, along with the UAE islands case.
