Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday received condolences on the death of Shaikh Nasser Bin Zayed Al Nahyan from shaikhs, ministers, diplomats, officials and a score of mourners.

Shaikh Khalifa received President James Michelle of the Seychelles, in the presence of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Sup-reme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

He also received Jasem Al Kharafi, Speaker of the Kuwaiti Parliament, Riad Na'san Agha, Syrian Minister of Culture, Mohammad Al Safadi, Lebanese Minister of Public Works, Shaikh Mubarak Al Abdullah Al Sabah and Prince Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Saud Al Kabeer.

Also offering condolences were Dr Mansour Khalid, Adviser to the Sud-anese President on the South Affairs, Mohammad Weld Sidi Mohammad, son of the Mauritanian President, Yasser Abd Rabbo, Media Adviser to the Palestinian President, and Yasser Mahmoud Abbas, son of the Palestinian President.

Receiving condolences were also Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and other shaikhs.

Shaikh Khalifa yesterday received more cables of condolence on the demise of Shaikh Nasser from the following presidents, leaders, premiers and officials from Arab, Muslim and foreign countries: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Lebanese President General Michel Sulaiman, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the Swiss Confederation Pascal Couche-pin, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahman, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammad Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Deputy Chief of the Kuwaiti National Guard Shaikh Mash'al Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Leb-anon's Democratic Gathering parliament bloc leader MP Walid Junblatt, Pakistan's Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani, Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon Nabih Berri, Ali Goma'a, Grand Mufti of Egypt, and Lebanon's Arab Islamic Council and Zawi Al Kurba Society.

Shaikh Khalifa received more telephone calls from leaders and officials of several countries, as well as from Arab and Islamic personalities, expressing their condolences on the demise of Shaikh Nasser.

Shaikh Khalifa received calls from the President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh Province, Prince Mutaib Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Commander of the Saudi National Guard and former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, all of whom expressed their grief and sorrow on the demise.

The President thanked them all and wished them health and prosperity.

He received yesterday a telephone call from the leader of the Hamas movement Khalid Mesha'al, who offered condolences over the demise of Shaikh Nasser, and from Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani offering condolences.

Shaikh Khalifa expressed gratitude to both leaders and prayed for them.
