Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Emiri Decree No. 20 of 2008, amending Emiri Decree No. 1 of 1995 and its amendments, dealing with the establishment of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA).
The new decree empowers the SEWA to venture into business activities related to its main functions, including the setting up of central cooling stations and their networks and establishing clean energy companies or entering into joint venture with specialised companies in the area of clean energy (renewable and alternative energy).
SEWA may also assign to others all or part of its works that fall under its jurisdiction and prerogatives, according to the decree.
