Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) on Tuesday held its 14th meeting of the second ordinary session of the 14th legislative chapter.

The meeting, which was presided by Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, FNC Speaker, was attended by Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who is also the minister of State for FNC Affairs, and Dr Hadef Jua’an Al Daheri, Minister of Justice.

The council listened to apologies and excuses from the moderator of the 13th meeting held on May 20 and referred to the Health Affairs, Labour and Social Welfare Committee a federal draft law on the setting up of Emirates Health Authority.


Five ministers, including Dr Hanif Hassan, Education Minister, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Economy Minister, Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Saqr Ghobash, Labour Minister, and Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Health Minister, were grilled on matters related to their respective ministries by the lawmakers.

The council approved a bill on documents and research centre, which has been entrusted with the authority and prerogative of keeping all types of national documents.

According to the bill, the centre will have an independent board, under the chairmanship of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister for Presidential Affairs.

The bill also stipulates penalties for violations in the handling of secret or ordinary documents.
