Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday continued his tour of the Western Region for the second consecutive day.

The President, accompanied by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, inspected number of farms, vital oil facilities, and new construction and service projects and the progress on these projects.

The UAE government will remain committed to provide basic services to its citizens, said Shaikh Khalifa yesterday. The President made the statement as he earlier received citizens from the Western Region in the presence of Gen Shaikh Mohammad.

Shaikh Khalifa was briefed by the citizens on their conditions and he listened carefully to their demands and needs.He instructed authorities concerned to meet their demands in line with the government's plan to provide all assets to citizens in the Western Region.

Shaikh Khalifa stressed the importance of educating nationals of the Western Region and training them to use modern administrative systems.

The citizens expressed happiness at meeting Shaikh Khalifa and described his visit as an expression of solidarity between the leadership and people.

High standards

On Tuesday, Shaikh Khalifa paid a visit to the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.

During the tour, the President listened to the concerns and requirements of the citizens he met. He was accompanied by Gen. Shaikh Mohammad.

The government is keen to achieve balanced development in all emirates and deliver highest standards of services to all regions in the country, the President maintained, adding that balanced economic development allows the utilisation and investment of all available resources.

The projects which the government are now undertaking meet international best practices, Shaikh Khalifa indicated, pointing out those services in the far-flung regions are integral parts of the overall development plan.

The final goal is to turn these remote areas into attractive populated centres and incubators for productive and service projects on an equal footing with densely populated cities, the President added.

During his tour, the President visited the Dhafra Meadows project which includes 788 detached villas and 400 apartments. The Dh940 million project is the first in a series of housing projects being executed under the comprehensive housing complex model.
