Camp David: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and US President George W. Bush yesterday held talks on fighting terrorism and economic cooperation.

Shaikh Mohammad, who arrived in the United States on an official visit, was received at the US Presidential Retreat at Camp David by Bush and was accorded an official reception. The visit comes at the invitation of the American president.

The talks between Bush and Shaikh Mohammad focused on energy issues, combating terrorism and cooperation in various fields, especially trade between the US and the UAE, which is considered an important market for US exports.

Bush stressed the need to develop the relations between the US and the UAE, according to a White House statement. The US president expressed admiration at the progress of the UAE which he witnessed during his visit in January.

Gordon Johndroe, spokesman of the US National Security Council, said: "Shaikh Mohammad is an influential figure around the world."

Shaikh Mohammad is accompanied by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and UAE ambassador to Washington Yousuf Al Otaiba.
